If one opts for traveling by road then there are number of entry points for Bhutan. One can go to the bordering town Phuentsholing from Guwahati via Bongaigaon, Assam which is approximately 360 km (6-7 hrs drive) & approximately 375 km (7-8 hrs drive) via Goalpara, Assam. One can also enter Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkhar, a small town and is an important entry & exit point in south-east bordering state of Assam, India due to proximity to the airport (approx 110 km/ 3.5 hrs drive) in Guwahati.
